My tutoring focuses exclusively on the SAT (and ACT) Verbal tests. I help all kinds of students-- whether you come to me with low PSAT scores or strong prior SAT scores, my tips and tricks will help you achieve your own personal best score.
You are welcome to begin with one tutoring session to see what the experience can offer you. There is never any obligation to sign up for numerous lessons in advance—you can take it one session at a time and have exactly the number of sessions that you need.
Every tutoring session is based on homework I assign from real and recent SAT test material. When you decide to start tutoring, we set up a first Zoom session and I send an initial assignment. During each session we review the material the student has completed, focusing as we move through the test on the specific areas where you need help. Most students need some refresher lessons in grammar and punctuation points tested on the SAT, and so I occasionally pull up the Zoom whiteboard for instant demos on these skills, or present worksheets designed by me to help master various aspects of the test. As we move through the Reading and Writing & Language tests, I share tips and strategies based on my years of experience writing the test. The best way to understand how to recognize a wrong answer is to take lessons from someone who wrote them for over a decade—there are many ways to spot wrong answers that you will never hear about from the major test prep companies, the big glossy prep books, or even the most expensive private tutors.
When you schedule lessons with me you will get the benefit of my 10+ years of test writing experience, my 15 years of successful college English teaching, and my 5 years of SAT tutoring experience.
